Project Enduring Pulse — v1.2.2 Charter / website release 10 explanatory edition. Constitutional source text is unchanged. Explanatory prose and editorial notes clarify evidence limits. PULSE ranks fourth, not second, in the six weak-institution comparisons. Reduced-form counts are parameter samples, not simulated Markov paths. The superseded concise overview mixed a working-paper DOI with journal details; the current paper and reference register distinguish those editions. Historical alternatives do not supersede the Constitution. PROJECT ENDURING PULSE Considered, Rejected & Superseded Ideas intentionally not carried into the current architecture v1.2.2 Publication & Advancement Clarification | September 2026 Rejected: treating social cohesion or cross-species contact as independent authority for government-directed private social engineering. Cohesion is a valuable consequence of useful collaboration, not a license to compel relationships. Rejected: species-role stereotypes such as humans = creativity/leadership and synths = calculation/execution. Complementary tendencies never determine an individual's permitted role. Architecture-effectiveness parameters are explicit hypotheses; the model is conditional systems analysis. [Editorial model context] These results assume PULSE's institutions work well; the model doesn't independently establish that. In the skeptic test, moving selected PULSE institutional effects roughly 15–20% closer to the model's neutral setting removed its average lead over the strongest liberal-democratic comparator. This does not mean reducing every PULSE assumption by that amount. It is not an empirical confidence interval, a measured safety margin or evidence that PULSE is 15–20% better. Earlier public explanations emphasized possible shared advancement rather than catastrophe. The current explanation starts more simply: if AI becomes a person, what rules would humans and synthetic persons need to live together without either permanently ruling the other? The safeguards and the possibility of useful cooperation remain part of the same framework. Rejected: treating total simulation/trial count as evidence strength. Counts belong in methodology/provenance; assumption quality and failure-mode findings matter more. Rejected: making Least Reversible Harm an immutable hardware-level morality instruction. Hardware may preserve continuity and change risk; LRH remains a constitutional/moral reasoning principle. Rejected: concealing AI assistance. Human-directed, AI-assisted development should be stated openly rather than discovered indirectly.
