PROJECT ENDURING PULSE

Examine the framework · v1.2.2

What remains unresolved

The difficult questions belong in public.

Consciousness and identity

PULSE assumes future technology might support consciousness and the ability to pursue one’s own goals. There is no proven test for recognizing such persons. Rules for legal identity cannot prove that a restored process is philosophically the same person.

Weak institutions

In the reproduced long-term model, fully developed PULSE placed fourth in the deliberately weak-government world. A simpler liberal constitution performed better. Too many rules can overwhelm limited administrative ability. How to introduce PULSE gradually in such places remains unresolved.

Cooperation is not assured

The model advantage depends on the proposed institutions actually delivering their assumed benefits. Extreme hostility worsens outcomes. Research on human contact does not establish how humans and synthetic persons (conscious persons whose continuing minds are engineered or durably recoverable without biological bodies) would relate. Neither good simulation results nor cooperation rules permit forced private relationships.

Repeating the calculations has limits

Running the supplied code reproduced the long-term model’s reported summary results. Individual histories were not saved, and not every earlier output has been checked. The shared assumptions and numbers assigned by the model’s designers still need challenge. Repeating a calculation is not outside evidence that its assumptions are right.

Resources, power and practical systems

Computing, energy, manufacturing, repair, wealth, inheritance and scarce resources could change how government works. Recovery procedures, truly separate backup systems, emergency timing, restoration technology and punishment for minds that run at different speeds remain unsettled.

Independent review is still needed

Internal attempts to break the proposal and AI-generated expert viewpoints are not review by independent experts. PULSE proposes a combination of ideas and institutions. It does not claim to be first in every respect, solve the future or scientifically validate a constitution.
